Bird on a Wire
Black and White Photos, Ash, Paint on board
As they stand face to face, connected by a single powerline, the two insignificant birds waddle along their life-line happy and content. The dirty ashen colours below represent the barren unforgiving landscape that is their natural world. The wire that the birds balance on so precariously connects them both to each other and links their remote corner of the world to the bigger world beyond their horizon. To me, this seemingly small almost unappreciated moment, becomes a metaphor representing my own isolation and connection to the world.
